Fibromyalgia is a type of chronic pain that feels similar to arthritis in a lot of ways, however, the deep muscle pain and morning stiffness is not localized to one specific region like it is with arthritis.
Fibromyalgia also has a few other differences from arthritis and several options for treatment.
Fibromyalgia Symptoms
Fibromyalgia is consistent with chronic pain experienced by deep muscle pain, stiffness and tender points which may exist all throughout the body. Another common symptom is fatigue. These two together make it difficult to accomplish everyday activities, stay fit, and be healthy. The good news is that Fybromyalgia does not create inflammation in the body, making it possible for someone with this disorder to still be active.

Possible Treatments
Even though it may seem counterintuitive, exercise is a great way to relieve Fibromyalgia.
Movement of the body will release endorphins, strengthen muscles, minimize fatigue and pain. Exercise is, in fact, one of the most important things someone with Fibromyalgia can do. Typically, someone with this disorder is not physically fit due to the pain and fatigue.
Physical Therapy may go hand-in-hand with added exercise.
A physical therapist can teach you how to relax tense muscle, specific stretches or exercises that will strengthen the muscles you need to strengthen, and give you added confidence to exercise. In a sense, they will help you gain control of this disorder.
In addition, there are alternative treatments such as acupuncture or chiropractics as well as specific drugs your Fibromyalgia specialist may prescribe to help you master this chronic condition.
