Tendinitis, or Tendonitis, is inflammation between the connective tissues of your muscle to your bone. This painful condition typically effects the elbow, shoulder, knee, hip or heel.
Learn about the symptoms, cause and solutions for tendinitis.

Causes of Tendinitis:
Usually, simple overuse of a tendon is the cause of inflammation in the tendon. Repetitive activities can cause this irritation of the joiner between muscle and bone. For instance, doing daily carpentry work such as hammering, or typing at a computer, can cause Tennis Elbow or Golfer’s Elbow (both residing in the tendons of the elbow). Other repetitive activities may include painting, sports, or gardening.
There are other things that may put you at risk for tendinitis. These include poor posture, diseases such as Rheumatoid Arthritis or Gout, which weakens the muscles. Also, the older we get, the less our tendons can stretch under stress.
Tendinitis Symptoms:
Soreness at the site of the tendon that doesn’t go away. Tendinitis may be short term (acute) or chronic in nature. The pain may come on suddenly or slowly build up.
Solutions for Tendinitis:
A few things you can do yourself includes resting the aggravated area. While resting, try icing the painful spot, and take anti-inflammatory supplements. These may include holistic options like Chia Oil or Acai Berry, or may be an over-the-counter medication.
Other treatments include steroid injections and physical therapy. In some cases, surgery may be necessary. If you have been suffering from pain in these areas, please give us a call so we can provide the best solution for your body and health.
