What is Pain Management?
Pain management is a specialty in medicine where a double board certified physician specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of pain conditions. The goal is to develop a multimodal approach in improving functionality and restoring the quality of life of patients in acute and chronic pain. We at Family Spine and Pain Care Institute are experts in this field with the advantage of providing time, education, and a family feel to all patients.
What conditions are treated by a pain management physician?
Symptoms treated include neck, mid back, and lower back pain (sciatica pain). Other pain symptoms such as joint pain, musculoskeletal pain, tendon and ligament pain, fibromyalgia, migraine headaches, and cancer pain. Rarer forms of pain such as from sympathetic nerve pain are also some of the many more pain symptoms treated.

What kinds of treatments might I receive at a pain management clinic?
Every treatment is patient dependent. You may need an epidural injection for radicular pain. Facet injection or radiofrequency ablation for arthritic pain. Spinal cord stimulator for pain persistent even after surgery. Stem cell injections as a more natural way of treating joint, spine, and tendon related pain. Medication management on a case-by-case basis.
The goal is to combine interventional approaches, medication management, and physical exercises to improve functionality and quality of life.
